THE WORLD AROUND US

RESUMEN DE LA UNIDAD
En esta unidad sus hijos ampliarán su campo de observación a lo que se encuentra más allá del lugar en el que viven. Observarán los distintos tipos de paisajes que los rodean y qué características podemos encontrar en cada uno de ellos.
Sus hijos estudiarán el planeta Tierra y observarán qué partes están cubiertas de tierra y cuáles de agua. También prestarán atención a que el planeta está compuesto de rocas y minerales. Identificarán los océanos y continentes del mundo y aprenderán a describir la ubicación de los continentes utilizando los puntos cardinales de una brújula.
En esta unidad se presenta mucho vocabulario nuevo, que se repasará de forma continua, además de ofrecer refuerzo visual y motivación.
Tienen a su disposición un listado de vocabulario con todas las palabras clave de la unidad, junto con sus traducciones.
VALORES Y ACTITUDES
En esta unidad sus hijos abrirán los ojos al interesante mundo que los rodea y comprenderán que debemos asegurarnos de cuidar del medioambiente y la naturaleza. Intenten animarlos a pensar acerca de lo siguiente:
•        Qué    podemos    hacer    para    cuidar    del    medioambiente.    •        Cómo    comportarnos    cuando    salimos.    •        Que    debemos    tener    cuidado    cuando    estamos    en    el    exterior.

We are studying LANDFORMS

We know the largest landforms are CONTINENTS AND OCEANS.

We have been learning about the 7 continents and oceans. We used a globe, a map, air drawing and an action song to help us learn the names! We learned about the continents North America, South America, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia and Antarctica. We can't wait to share with you when we get home!

ART

PREHISTORIC  CAVE  PAINTING

We keep up the good work on our art project

These artists used sea-shells as paint containers. Initially, they painted with their fingers, later on brushes made of animal hair or vegetable fibre.
All colour pigments used in cave painting mostly from mineral sources found in the earth. Stone Age painters employed several different combinations of materials to make coloured paints: Clay, charcoal, animal fats, vegetable juice, blood or urine.

PHONICS WALL

WE ARE THE BEST WORD BUILDERS: COLLABORATIVE WORK TO BUILD PHONICS WALLS.

 We need bricks to build a wall. Our "bricks" are individual sounds that together make up a word.
This is how we have FUN building PHONICS WALLS in the English class:

We choose a sound and think of words that bear this sound.
We act out the sounds that make up that word.
We blend the sounds to read the word.
We segment the word to write each letter on the bricks.
Each sound is a brick, it can be a 1 letter o 2 letters brick.
The final result is a cool WALL built together that makes us feel proud as a group!

And then... we can do a  Phonic Wall on our own. Here´s Pilar´s fantastic  "a" Wall, what a great job!!
